Opportunity
BlockTexx is leading the global textile industry in resource recovery. BlockTexx is now scaling our operations and seeking a Lead Scientist to join our leadership team.
The successful candidate has a track record of success as a leader of R&D and commercial operations in the fields of materials science and textiles.
BlockTexx is an emerging company that is making significant impact in Australia with a global focus. The position will be responsible for setting and driving the R&D strategy, overseeing lab. operations, managing our multidisciplinary scientific team, maintaining and building the intellectual property portfolio, and supporting the scale-up process all the way to commercial plant management and operations.
The successful candidate, as well as being a technical expert, will have a strong passion and concern for the environment and the desire to reduce humanity's impact upon it. They will show energy, enthusiasm and the resilience needed to drive industry changing innovative technology into mainstream applications. Responsibilities

Designs and directs the research program for BlockTexx’s development strategy

Leads plant engineering team and equipment identification and purchase

Leads the development and maintenance of intellectual property

Leads the new opportunity qualification process

Identifies and creates opportunities for career development and growth of assigned personnel

Manages top performing research and product development team
Qualifications
-
MS or PhD in materials science, textiles, or a related field, with a minimum of 5+ years of business experience

Expertise in textile, fibre and chemical engineering & technology

Expertise in polymer chemistry and/or cellulose chemistry
-
Experience working in industry that includes new product development, strategy, formulation development, and budget management

Intellectual property development and leadership experience

Excellent project management, lab management, & people skills

Demonstrated and verifiable excellence in mentoring and development of personnel

Leadership philosophy that aligns with BlockTexx core values
Location
This role is based in Australia and individuals will need the legal permission to work in Australia.
